Blenheim Lodge is a purpose built unit meeting the nursing rehabilitation needs of 10 adults with a variety of Acquired Brain Injuries and Physical/Learning Disabilities. Blenheim Lodge represents Stage One of the Titleworth Healthcare Managed Pathway stream.
The design of the building centres on giving the feeling of being a home from home offering all comforts and conveniences in order to make life as fulfilling and comfortable as possible for all of our residents. The new building is completely self-contained with a separate entrance and garden area. Corridors are wide enough to suit both motorised chairs and wheelchairs alike. Access to all levels of the new wing is by a new 8 person hydraulic lift pertaining to fully recommended disabled standards. Lift controls and switches throughout the building are arranged at wheelchair level. Lift controls and all signs are in large print for anyone that may be visually impaired. Each resident has a large bed-sitting room with a minimum size of 12m2. The five ground floor rooms all have en-suite bathrooms carefully designed for the wheelchair user. Residents have the choice of bath or shower to suit their personal prefere nce. 150Kg ceiling tracked hoists are installed in every bedroom to assist transfers from beds to all facilities. The first floor is arranged with a shower trolley and appropriate shower room plus WC for immobile residents unable to use wheelchairs.
A particular feature is the large indoor hydrotherapy pool and spacious surrounding area for relaxation, use of exercise equipment and other therapeutic activities. Male and female changing rooms, showers and disabled toilets are within the pool surrounds. Within this unit we have a specialised bathroom fitted with an adjustable height bath in which the heaviest or most disabled person can be bathed in comfort. The dedicated lounge and amenity area opens to a lovely patio and rear garden with raised beds for disabled use if required. Adjacent to the lounge is our activities room where hobbies can be continued and games played by all residents and their guests. This room may also be used for quiet meetings between families if required. Full size toilets with support bars are immediately opposite the main door. There are also facilities for hair dressing and other special treatments too (beauty treatments for example).
Residents are in full control of their own daily living with support workers on hand throughout the day to assist them with their personal activities thus aiding autonomy wherever possible. We have a complete programme of stimulating daily activities of an educational and recreational nature including the organisation of a series of regular outside events.
Activities provided include quizzes, board games, horse/dog racing, theatre trips, gardening, musical events, garden fetes, trips to the coast and a whole host of other invigorating endeavours.
Cooking facilities are provided in the amenity room with the garden being ideal for barbecues and other festivities. Residents are encouraged to join the various programmes we offer but some may prefer to find other interests such as surfing the Internet or watching Cable TV in their own private time. All of our residents’ rooms are fitted with data and voice connections for computer/ internet access and are linked into a local area network for ease of use. Digital TV is available using "On Digital" set top decoders.
We welcome any visit and invite enquiries and bookings for respite or longer term care. Room charges depend on the level of care and support required. Further details in respect of activities, use of hydrotherapy and physio facilities, staffing, menus and other matters of concern are available on request.
